Bokissa is Environmentally Friendly
Bokissa island is a nature reserve, with no hunting allowed above or below the water and no cats or dogs are allowed on the island to assure the purity of the fauna and flora. The birds, coconut crabs, and fish are very tame and easy to approach and photograph.
This is one of the few places in Santo where you will see the forest without invasive vines or other exotic weeds. To prevent the spread of exotic plants gardens are kept to a minimum and confined to special areas of the island.
There are huge rainwater holding tanks and a desalination plant to assure plentiful, pure, soft fresh water for the resort. This means that your showers will be sudsy, your hair soft, and you can drink water right from the tap.
A sophisticated sewage treatment plant treats all the waste water of the resort. This is something unique to Bokissa and required considerable effort to set up and keep in perfect running condition. The result is worth it as this maintains the ultra pure, crystal clear coastal waters and beaches for your enjoyment.
