Discover Vanuatu's Wildlife - native trees, orchids, birds, fish, corals, in an undisturbed environment

Teachers, university professors, and researchers find Bokissa a perfect place to bring their students to study the land and marine flora and fauna. Well planned trails lead through and around the 175 acres of tropical rainforest where you will readily see a selection of rare and endangered birds, wild orchids, and coconut crabs. There are no dangerous snakes to worry you. Domestic animals - like feral cats, dogs, chickens or cattle - are not present to assure the survival of fragile rain forest environment. |

Bokissa's nature reserve includes the entire coral reef shelf surrounding the island.
Coral reef researchers say that the Bokissa reef is the best developed, most accessible coral reef complex in Vanuatu.
In addition to the benthic coral reef fauna and reef fishes, Bokissa has regular (seasonal) visits from sea turtles that come to lay their eggs on the beaches, dolphins, dugongs, and whales.
Bokissa will happily assist scientists with any required government research permits should you wish to conduct official research activities in Vanuatu. However, specimen collecting is not allowed. |
